Yorkshire GREEN
Yorkshire GREEN involves the upgrade and reinforcement of high-voltage electricity network in Yorkshire to improve the transfer of clean energy across the country. Yorkshire GREEN will allow cleaner energy to flow into homes and businesses that need it in Yorkshire and beyond whilst supporting ambitious net zero targets set by the UK Government.
Power Grid Civils are working on behalf of our valued client Morrisons Energy Services to deliver the Yorkshire GREEN project for National Grid. This project is part of the “Great Grid Upgrade” – the largest overhaul of the electricity transmissions network across England and Wales in generations. Works started in late 2024 and will run into early 2026. Power Grids main duties include:
- Installation and construction of new foundation bases for new towers
- Upgrading existing tower foundations to improve capacity
- Installation of Haul Road and bellmouths in line with Highways standard
- Construction of major crane pads
- Installation of natural drainage works including soakaways and retention ponds.
