Power Grid Civils is proud to be partnering with our valued client, MGroup, on the XH/XJ overhead line uprating project for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN).
SPEN is upgrading the existing OHL network to increase capacity along the XH and XJ routes between Strathaven and Wishaw substations, covering approximately 62 km between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
As part of this project, Power Grid Civils is delivering the full design and build of all tower foundation upgrades, from initial design through to final handover.
Our scope of works also includes:
- Construction of access works, including bellmouth installations
- Installation of haul roads and crane pads
- Implementation of SUDS measures when working near live watercourses
- Comprehensive environmental management in line with SEPA requirement
Works commenced in Q4 2025 and will run into late 2026
